We're requesting everyone to submit one focal bead of their choosing for this project. The deadline for submission will be May 31st. (You will get your bead back after it has been photographed. ) The posters will be available for sale at whatever the cost is to get the photography and printing done. I'm hoping to have enough beads to do a 16 x 20 poster. Everyone's work is eligible!! You can mail your bead to us or drop it off anytime between now and the end of May or bring it to the Fireflies meeting on May 26th. We're looking forward to seeing everyone's beads! Know that there are kids who are going through some horrible stuff that have been immensely cheered up by having a fun new game to play while they're stuck in the hospital. The New York Times even wrote an article about it. I'm going to try and get Breckenridge here in Austin involved next year as one of the potential recepients -- right now the closest are in San Antonio and Houston. If you can, please go to Child's Play website and make a donation of a game. Child's Play is a charity started up by the guys at a gaming webcomic called Penny Arcade. Each year, games are donated directly to the children's wards at dozens of hospitals around the world.You can choose the hospital -- I went with Texas Children's Hospital in Houston -- and order directly from Amazon to have them ship it directly to the hospital. The stuff isn't expensive (unless you choose to donate a Nintendo...). This is the fourth year, and it has grown from raising tens of thousands of dollars to this year's record of $500,000+.
